Playing with the Ambiguities by I.A. Pansohta

When the power of love, overcome the love of power, the world will know peace - Jimi Hendrix.
The statement of the honorable Indian Minister for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor on December 6, 2009 telecast in the CNN-IBN program in their `Devil’s Advocate’ contradicted with the statement of prominent Indian leaders about likelihood of Pakistan’s nuclear assets into falling into hands of rogue elements or Jihadis. He has been quoted saying “We do not have first hand information on that. Certainly, those who are very close to Pakistan seem to be convinced that there is nothing to be worried about”. It was not his but statements of other prominent Indian Pundits self-proclaimed statements that raised some eye-brows and big questions marks. Such charges are often repeated by Indian leaders every now and then, from one forum or the other with random denial or renunciations from Pakistan. In the body politics, it is said: if hollow claims with some modicum of reality are kept in circulation, their layers after layers keep on piling up during the period continue to pile up in the sub-conscious of mind and a stage comes when it transforms into beliefs. Sometime in the past it was said that locking mechanism of the nuke arsenals are so intricate that makes its decryption or decoding near impossible job due to lack of relevant information such as encrypted timing, data of high voltage source interruption, encrypted signal paths and encrypted codes. Then there were stories about NSA’s inventing digital signatures and jargons like PALs. C.R.M. FGD 135, OPE and Discriminators. But those technologies too have become obsolete now with the invention of super computers and latest research methodologies. It is not just the practice to lock up the horse in the stable and let the Juma Khan snort outside with keys lying beneath his pillow to be stolen by some Mullah or any other Hindu Gestapu. It is not that Pakistan now. Such undermining statements are immoral acts to play with the naiveté of the audiences who find little time to ascertain the fact by studying research articles. But Indian writers keep busy to its readers to find dozens of references, by quoting people of substance and fame saying the same thing again and again. But nobody is there to challenge their statement claiming it is nothing but part of propaganda campaign. Same is true when charges are repeated against Pakistan as a state breeding violence, training Jihadis or providing safe haven to the fugitives or al-Queda elements not knowing their strengths and vulnerabilities? How on this God’s earth they are so un-traceable creature? Apart from hearsays, surmises, guess work and empty claims, the world is still struggling to knows for sure, what this al-Qaeda is, where does it exit, who all are its leaders and where do they reside? How such a brute, resource less community plans and executes its terrorist plans. Whatever Mr. Tharoor echoed did not carry as much weight as her other cliques’ skeptic bombardment about Pakistan’s unsatisfactory control mechanism. Before casting any aspersion they should have at least assessed their capabilities to give vent to irrational or immoral statements. Indian leaders should understand how bombs work in order to understand, how they could be protected. Do they have adequate knowledge what is Pakistan’s security mechanism before saying whether these arsenals are safe or unsafe? If we suppose just for a moment that Pakistan’s nuclear assets are not in safe hands, can anybody let its readers know, what are the parameters of the security? How bombs are manufactured and detonated? If Pakistan’s assets are not in safe hands, how the leading US figures like Secretary of the State can express her sense of satisfaction. Gone are the days when we used to study fiction about the Soviet suitcase bombs, when Russians used three party control system: the military, the KGB and a political officer. The fact is that world should focus more on political and psychological realities which generate war hysteria and engage the states in `stability-instability paradox’. The rogue elements within a country are more important than the country itself. How one can claim the safety of Indian nukes as firmly guarded ones? If Indian leadership is in the knowledge of any lacunae or has the clue or knowledge of any such vulnerability, why concerned international monitoring agencies or the United Nation’s counter-proliferation bodies are not tipped about it confidentially - as it will provide security not only to India but to other neighbors of the South Asia. But prior to any such move, it demands credibility of source of information, real motives of the informer and thorough knowledge of the propaganda gimmicks. The reference to the statements of the Indian leaders about such lurking threats also means that India is chasing Pakistan’s nuclear secrets with any benevolence spirit but to her espionage network or foes to raise the dust against Pakistan. It makes no sense to ask Indian deputy external minister about the safety of such weapons, who have no concern. Similarly, Indian leaders should restrain to comment on the subject, the right way to know the reality is ask those who have thorough knowledge about the nuclear safety mechanism or its supreme supervisor echelons. The media managers should ask such questions from the relevant quarters rather than confusing the audience by the statements of such charlatans. A lay man, if asked how swine flue attacks human beings means a silly question. It is the doctor or an educated person to reply this question. Granted, leaders receive such input from their discreet tentacles or moles, but then there is scope of more concoction than finding a real answer.
